Professional Experience:
Principal Consultant/CEO: Provide strategic direction, training & technical assistance to international & national NGOs, universities, government & private sector on wide range of issues including rule of law, law reform, legal aid, lawyer & judicial training, legal education, human rights, citizen governance and advocacy. Conduct written & oral advocacy & write reports; conduct research & make recommendations on advocacy initiatives. Current & former clients include immigrant and public defender organizations, ministries of justice and universities.
COP/Country Director: Senior Management responsible for all aspects of country office operations, including grant management, donor reports, budget oversight, staff hiring & supervision, work plan design & implementation, supervision of experts & subgrantees, data collection, monitoring and evaluation for multi-million dollar grant-funded rule of law, anti-corruption, human rights, legal aid, rule of law & citizen engagement programs.

Governance, Civil Society Engagement, Policy Advocacy: Implemented & managed $1.5M citizen involvement grant with 75+ local NGO participants; trained 100+ NGOs; technical assistance to 100 officials; provided leadership for lawyer & NGO policy advocacy program creating successful campaigns on human rights & access to justice.

Human Rights: Morocco: Implemented EU funded lawyer & judges human rights training program; Libya: Edited human rights training manual for NGOs; advised Human Rights Council; developed recommendations for human rights NGOs & justice sector; provided human rights TOT to NGOs; Bahrain: Provided technical assistance & training to University of Bahrain Human Rights Clinic faculty. Women’s’ Rights and Domestic Violence: Strategic planning & oversight of trainings on human rights & advocacy for women lawyers & judges; TOT for women human rights NGO leaders in Libya; technical assistance to lawyers, prosecutors & CSOs on domestic violence in Turkey.

Access to Justice, Judicial and Lawyer Independence, & Legal Aid: Managed program to increase capacity of Morocco’s Supreme Judicial Council; managed first MENA regional bar leader conference on lawyer independence; implemented MENA bar mentor program; TOT on legal ethics for Libya Bar Association; technical assistance to implement successful legal aid programs & access to justice resources for lawyers, resulting in development of online resources for legal aid lawyers & expansion of services to indigent clients in MENA.

Policy Advocacy and Legislative Policy Analysis: Implemented USAID program for to develop lawyers' capacity for effective legislative policy advocacy resulting in policy initiatives focused on protecting rights to lawyer independence.
