Professional Experience: |
I was born and raised in Mexico, a country rife with social and economic inequality. My desire for change led me to the development field. This was the beginning of a 17-year journey where I have worked with global organizations including UNICEF Mexico, Oxfam Netherlands and Amnesty International, and with community based organizations like Pro Niños in Mexico and Dance for All in South Africa.
Through these opportunities I have gained thorough experience in project & financial management, grant application and reporting processes, planning/monitoring, as well as the ability to work with people from different backgrounds and cultures.
As Program Officer for Latin America within Oxfam-Novib, I had the privilege to work in collaboration with various partners throughout the region, which deepened my knowledge and understanding of its context and dynamics, as well as the passion I feel for the land that I come from.
When I moved to the Netherlands, I set up Children of Mexico, a foundation that raises funds to support Mexican organizations that empower marginalized children in Mexico. As Chair of the foundation, I played an instrumental role in developing the organization’s grant strategy and building partnerships with funders and other relevant institutions.
Through my journey in the development field, I discovered the field of dance and social transformation. As a dancer, the passion that I found on the subject led me to develop and implement various community dance projects to empower disadvantaged children in different countries.
I believe I possess both a strong analytical and critical mind, and an empathic and intuitive flair. This mix that has allowed me to excel in a diverse range of disciplines and experiences – which I would now love to channel towards a new and challenging opportunity where I can keep contributing to build a more democratic society where human rights are respected.

Education: |
I have a Bachelors Degree in Mathematics and Actuarial Science (Summa Cum Laude), which has provided me with a strong analytical and critical mind. On this end I have been able to channel my skills towards making a difference by working as Financial Officer for various organizations, leading the Micro Finance Program for Latin America at Oxfam and establishing the foundation Children of Mexico in the Netherlands. I also have a certificate in Fundraising Management, which allowed me to lead corporate fundraising campaigns at UNICEF Mexico and later to head the Fundraising department in Pro Ninos de la Calle.
Through my journey in the development field, I discovered the field of dance and social transformation. As a dancer, the passion that I found on the subject led me to do a Postgraduate Degree in Community Dance and an MA in Dance Movement Therapy, which together with my fundraising skills allowed me to develop and implement various community dance projects to empower disadvantaged children in different countries.

Affiliations and Achievements: |
• As consultant I provide financial support to NGOs, assisting them in their planning, programming, implementation, budget development and/or donor reporting.
• In 2003 I founded the organization Children of Mexico (www.childrenofmexico.net) in the Netherlands, which to date raises funds to support organizations that work with children at risk in Mexico and creates community within Mexicans living in the Netherlands. As Chair of the board I developed the business plan, planned the operational, budget and fundraising strategy for the organization, and guided the team towards achieving our goals. I set up the individual donor annual fund, built partnerships with funders and other organizations, revised project proposals from counterparts in Mexico and coordinated the development of the communication campaign.
• I am a community dance artist and dance therapist. As such, I have coordinated and participated in various projects that use dance as a tool for transformation and inclusion of youth at risk, in different countries like Brazil, South Africa, Mexico, the Netherlands and Canada.
• As a dance therapist I have provided individual and group dance therapy sessions to female immigrants and refugees in the Netherlands (mainly trauma related) and currently provide trauma informed yoga for youth at risk and women victims of violence.
• I hold workshops in various countries, for women to reconnect with their menstrual cycle as a source of wisdom, challenging the view of menstrual distress as pathology, developing awareness on women’s sexual and reproductive rights, promoting eco friendly menstrual practices and supporting education and livelihood possibilities for other women.
