Professional Experience: |
My academic qualifications include Masters Degrees in Conflict Mitigation and Human Rights studies. I also hold a diploma in Transitional Justice Systems and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Sociology. My academic and professional background will clearly indicate that I come with the theoretical and hands-on knowledge of dealing with international, government and non-governmental actors in any situation, including emergency relief and humanitarian action. I also come with a strong background of coordinating/managing a wide range of disciplines and activities, especially in emergencies, difficult and deep field operations.
I have worked and traveled quite extensively, especially in Africa for the last 15 years. During this time, my portfolio covered: advancing human rights and protection of civilians, emergency response and contingency planning, food security, recovery, development, policy and strategy development, with crosscutting issues of gender, humanitarian and relief operations. Throughout these years I have also, always done capacity building of government and partner staff. I am highly motivated to take up positions fitting my kind of profile because I have a first-hand experience of working with UN agencies, international organizations and donors in coordinating various types of operations in various situations, especially hardship duty stations. I also have vast experience in field office management, organizational management, humanitarian coordination, governments and political parties/movements, civil society and cooperating partners.
I am also a trained assessment officer with good analytical skills and able to analyze complex situations that require a coordinated response and international cooperation, etc. I possess excellent report writing skills, an experience that has been gained over the years through in-depth writing of assessments and result based reports for donor funding, and monthly/weekly situation briefings.
I have good interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills. I possess an excellent team-work spirit, interacting very well with colleagues as well as people of diverse cultural backgrounds. I am willing to work in remote areas, adaptable and flexible to changing schedules and environments.
