Professional Experience:
I started my career in 5th World Water Forum as a member of the Political Process team and coauthor of the two most important outputs of the forum, the Final and Synthesis Reports. I worked in bringing together politicians from all over the world responsible for water-related environment, agriculture, and energy policies, as well as socio-economic issues. In addition to managing the design and implementation processes of the forum, I also provided content for the agenda of two intergovernmental meetings which took place in December 2008 in Geneva UN Headquarters and in January 2009 in Rome FAO Headquarters, and coordinated the outputs circulated as a UN General Assembly document (A/63/852). In addition, I have also taken part in managing and monitoring the events of “Farmers” and “Local Governments” Major Groups. Finally, after the completion of the Forum, I coordinated the most comprehensive volume of the Forum outcomes, the synthesis report, in addition to additional publications.
Following my duty in the Forum, I became an assistant researcher in Economic Development Foundation, one of the most prominent non-profit platforms in Turkey. I was primarily responsible for conducting research projects, gathering data, and presenting analyses on agriculture, rural development, sustainable development, and environment issues and reforms. In addition, I initiated a project in cooperation with agricultural producers which aimed at targeting collective action and supply chain problems among farmer cooperatives.
Finally, I was offered a job in the Government as an expert, in which I focused on accountability and governance reforms. My duties consisted of conducting qualitative and quantitative research for the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TGNA) legislative committees and drafting legislations in the areas of political and social development and local administration. In addition to my research duties, I acted as a sector expert for projects related to corruption and local government reports and provided project preparation and evaluation assistance to stakeholders for projects funded by the European Commission.
