Professional Experience:
I started my career as an administrative assistant to the CFO of a small manufacturing firm, where I was responsible for ensuring invoicing and payments were done accurately and timely. My primary role was to streamline operations by maintaining open communication with all levels of the organization. Working in the accounting department gave me the opportunity to work at the front line of a variety of cross functional roles, resulting in a greater understanding of the importance of communication and teamwork.

I took a position as an Associate Producer for a News Channel located at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. Not only have my writing, editing, and researching skills improved drastically, I have also gained communication skills from interacting with various diplomats and leaders at the UN. Having worked at a news station, there was a high demand to work under pressure, therefore being prepared and thinking on my feet was one of my highest responsibilities.

My decision to pursue an MBA at Rutgers Business School, has allowed me to undertake various consultancy projects. I have implemented an HR strategy to promote communication at a leading eyewear company. In addition, I consulted in the marketing and growth strategy of an urban entrepreneurship project, leading to higher economic engagement amongst the community. Not only do I have experience in consulting but I have learned and implemented the tools necessary for efficient and effective Product Management.

As part of my mandatory internship for Business School, I took on the role as an Innovation Intern for the United Nations Development Programme located in Cairo, Egypt. I researched and worked on building, sustaining and scaling the social innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in Egypt, with a special emphasis on youth empowerment.

Upon graduation I decided I wanted to professionally enhance my skills somewhere new, unfamiliar, and in need of social aid. Therefore, I applied for an Entrepreneurial Fellowship in Nakura, Kenya. I assisted local entrepreneurs in developing and testing exciting new business ideas; created marketing strategies, conducted customer interviews, built prototypes, and ultimately made sales. I had the opportunity to work with the founder of a small orphanage/school, helping her fundraise for an event she was hosting. I reached out to potential partners, organized event details, and created an online platform for donations. Lastly, I participated as a judge on the funding pitching panel; analyzed the various aspects of the entrepreneurs business plan and its potential for financial growth.
