Professional Experience: |
My earliest work experience was in retail and commercial sales where I learned many valuable lessons on how to successfully interact with people. I then received formal business training (MBA) and was hired by a regional USA bank as a commercial loan officer primarily as a small medium enterprise (SME) specialist. After nearly ten years at the bank, I accepted an offer to become the CFO and COO of a medium sized international not-for-profit (NGO) organization.
Using my previous training and experience as a base, I was able to help the NGO double in size financially and navigate through a number of regulatory and development issues. Highlights of my work at the NGO include the purchase and renovation of a headquarters building, the transition of an underfunded pension plan to a user friendly savings product, the implementation of a number of IT products, the development of a functioning personnel handbook. Additionally, I developed expertise in the integration of for-profit (i.e. business) strategies for not-for-profit (i.e. relief, rehabilitation and development) activity.
After twelve years working in the USA headquarters, I requested a transfer to the NGO’s Asia office. I became the organization’s lead in implementing its strategy in Thailand, Japan, India, Cambodia, Vietnam and elsewhere in Asia. The focus of my work is on business plan analysis, networking/partnership development, coaching and teaching.
