Professional Experience:
Aileen is an experienced policy and program manager with technical expertise in global health, family planning, and maternal health. She brings nearly a decade of domestic and international experience leading advocacy activities, health programs, public relations, and strategic communications. She has field experience in Asia and Africa with extended site visits in Tanzania, Madagascar, Uganda, Vietnam, Kenya, and Nepal.
As Policy Manager, Aileen is responsible for leading strategic partnerships with U.S. policymakers (Congress, State Department), bilateral/multilateral and institutional partners (World Bank, FP2020, UN bodies) and civil society organizations. She oversees field-based policy, research, and communications projects throughout Asia and Africa.
Prior to joining Marie Stopes International, she served as a Program Officer for Merck for Mothers where she coordinated thought leadership activities and global health programs for Merck’s $500 million commitment to maternal health. While in graduate school, Aileen completed a policy internship at the White House in the Office of the First Lady and consulted at the Baltimore City Health Department on a citywide heath communications campaign. She was a Program Coordinator at the National Institute for Reproductive Health where she coordinated the grant portfolio on urban reproductive health policies as well as advocacy initiatives for sexuality education and emergency contraception. Aileen also led educational and community programs as the Outreach Educator at Planned Parenthood of Montana. Aileen has experience from the nonprofit, government and private sectors specializing in advocacy, program management, and corporate communications.
