Education:
I started my superior education as a two-year Law student. I then started my studies of economics (Catholic University), with a strong emphasis on microeconomics, mathematical economics and macroeconomics. My Bachelor’s thesis was the application of environmental economics as an approach to solving a pollution problem in an agricultural valley in Peru. Then, I did my first Masters’, an interdisciplinary one, with a focus on the Amazon, at the Latin American School of Social Science (FLACSO-Ecuador). My thesis was based on the application of Cost-Benefit Analysis to an innovative tropical forest management model applied as a pilot level in Peru was funded by USAID. My second and final Masters’ was an MSc in Environmental and Resource Economics, at University College London. The thesis was based on the application of the Faustmann’s principle to sustainable forest management in the Peruvian Amazon. At the end of my Mastrers’, I stayed at the Centre for Social and Economic Research on the Global Environment (CSERGE, University College London) thanks to an extension of my British Council Scholarship.

Some short courses I took after completion of my University studies that are worth mentioning include the training courses as part of my recent consultancies with UNDP in Biodiversity Finance (Santiago, Januanry 2016), and Ecosystem-Based Adaptation to Climate Change Adaptation in the Highlands (Bratislava, February-March 2014); my training in Budgeting-for-Results as I was the FAO Deputy Representative in Peru (Paraguay, 20119; the 18th International Seminar on Forest and Natural Resources Administration and Management, held jointly by the USDA Forest Service and Colorado State University, between August and September, 2002, a study tour that led me through at least 7 States of the USA. Another relevant course that I would like to mention is the IV Latin American and the Caribbean Environmental Economics Program (LACEEP) Course and Workshop “The Economics of Ecosystem Services”, by Professor Karl-Göran Mäler, Talca, September 29th - October 5th, 2007. Last but not least, I attended the World Bank’s 2nd Environmental Economics for Development Policy training course. Washington D.C., U.S.A, July 12th – 23rd, 1999.
