Professional Experience:

After his Masters in Economics (1976) in Germany, Koffi started in 1977 a Research Program towards his PhD in Economics, Development Economics and International Development. He began his professional career in 1980 as Marketing Department Manager at Heavy Industry Thyssen in Dortmund, Germany. After his PhD in1981 he joined the Banking Sector in 1981 as Senior Loan Officer till 1987. He dealt with mortgage loans, conducting financial analysis and provided technical assistance to small entrepreneurs. In 1987 Koffi came back home to Togo after 15 years in Germany for studies and professional experience.

Back home in Togo Koffi worked for one year as International Trade Advisor with Abah Brothers, an industrial and agricultural supply Company before moving on to Humanitarian Aid and Development work with Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Togo in December 1988. From 1988 to1996, Koffi was Small Enterprise Development Manager, Regional Livelihood & Microfinance Network Coordinator at CRS in West Africa. At CRS Togo closure in April 1996 Koffi went on a short term assignment at CRS Rwanda and developed an «Umbrella Project», a Microfinance & Small Enterprise Project to lift 5000 poor rural women out of poverty after genocide and war. After Rwanda, Koffi intervened as Consulting Technical Trainer for over 40 young American University Graduates in Small Business Development at Peace Corps USA –Togo (1996-1997).

From March 1996 to 2006, he worked with Plan International Togo as Program Support Manage, Micro-enterprise Development Manager and Country Directo. Plan is an International child-centered Community Development NGO focusing on Child Development, Sponsorship, Health, Education, WASH, Protection & Advocacy Programs. Koffi played pivotal role in the Design, Implementation, Monitoring & Evaluation, Management, Coaching and Fundraising for multi-sector programs with cross-cutting activities. He developed a Credit with Education Program which lifted 110000 poor rural women out of poverty in Togo.

In 2007 Koffi moved to Humanitarian work in other African Regions after a one-year M&E Consultancy for Freedom From Hunger on a multi-country Microfinance «Breaking Through Barriers» Program. He became Regional Operations Coordinator (ROC) West, Central Africa and Madagascar (2007-2011) for poverty housing Habitat for Humanity International, based in Pretoria, South Africa, supervising both French and English speaking Country Programs in Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, DRC and Madagascar.

As Professor, Koffi lectured Economics & Research at the Faculty of Economics and Finance at the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) in Pretoria, South Africa (2012-2013); and later joined HelpAge International (caring for older people) in Central & East Africa as Emergency Program Manager in DRC (2013-2014) and as Regional Program Manager (2014-2015). He is a Global development Strategist & Consultant, speaking English, French & German.

Education:

After completing primary education in June 1964 in the Roman Catholic Mission School in the rural town of Assahoun in Togo, Koffi joined Collège Saint Joseph’s Secondary School in October 1964. As a talented student in German he topped the candidates’ group in a competition in the German language and won an award to spend holydays in Germany in summer 1970. After completing Secondary School Education in 1971 with «Baccalaureate A4» with Distinction and as Nº1 in Togo that year, Koffi won a scholarship at a competition from the Deutscher Akademischer Austausch-Dienst (DAAD) and began his University Study in Economics at the Philipps-Universität Marburg in Germany in April 1972. He completed his Bachelor Degree in Economics in 1975, and his Masters in Economics in 1976. In a competition from the German Institute for the Promotion of Talented Students of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (Institut für Begabtenförderung der Konrad Adenauer Stiftung) Koffi won another scholarship for a four-year Research Program in Development Economics, International Development and Relations at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster, still in Germany. He completed his PhD. in 1981 with Distinction in Economics, Development Economics & International Development in February 1981. Koffi then started a career in 1981 at the Heavy Industry Thyssen AG in Dortmund in Germany and moved on to the Banking sector at the Volksbank in Dortmund Mengede, still in Germany. He was Senior Loan Officer for 7 years gathering professional experience in Finance and Development before moving back to his home country Togo in 1987. From 1988 till present, Koffi is active in the multi-sectoral Humanitarian Aid and Global Development nationally and international.
