Professional Experience:
I have project management transferable skills gained working on large scale infrastructure programs. At Network Rail I worked on a team designing, fabricating and installing radio kit into every train in the UK and training the drivers on how to use the system. At Heathrow I worked on a portfolio of 17 projects, from installing media screens to renovating Border Force accommodation to the design of an architecturally stunning premium shopping zone.

Deadline focus and teamwork are two of my strong points. At Heathrow I formulated a strategy in order to be able to sign a contract with a contractor on a £14m ($20m) politically sensitive project that involved the design, construction and move of an airline departures area between terminals; any delay would have an impact to the finish date of the project. I worked with stakeholders to agree how to calculate milestones linked to delay damages in the project. The approach I suggested was accepted and the contract was signed on time, enabling the project to achieve the completion milestone.

At Network Rail I was trusted for my organizational and communication skills. The project I was working on was suffering from an issue with the Office of Rail Regulation, who had a considerable amount of influence, and I was tasked with finding out what the issue was. After contacting a representative from the Office and discovering the project and regulatory body were using two different datasets, I arranged a meeting at their offices to reconcile any differences between our data. I suggested that we should use the same dataset going forwards, which was agreed. I made sure to include them in my monthly communication calendar and the relationship improved vastly.

Once a year I would lead the project budget estimate process at Network Rail. This gives a bottom up forecast for the year and requires the input of the entire team. I worked with our commercial department to develop a sophisticated excel spreadsheet that would help the larger team to be able to create accurate forecasts. This was a metric based approach, which enabled the team to think about units completed rather than money spent. The project spent in excess of £20m (c$26m) each year and while I was working on the project actual expenditure was always between 5% to 8% of the estimate.

I am confident in my ability to manage stakeholders and work in a team. The busiest day at Heathrow last year saw 132,999 people, who spent £4.75m in shops and restaurants. This is a demanding space which required me to think about people flow and the passenger experience when analyzing tenders. I liaised with architects, engineers, estimators, commercial teams and contractors in order to give me an informed perspective.

At Network Rail I line managed two members of staff, guiding and supervising them. We devised short and long goals, meeting each month to discuss progress. I find managing staff both challenging and rewarding.
Education:
MSc Project & Enterprise Management: UCL, London.
I completed units in economics in the construction industry, supply chain management, theories of project management and capturing and delivering value. My dissertation concerned implementing project metrics in order to achieve long term sustainability goals.

BA (hons) Drama: University of Wales, Aberystwyth.
I studied and analyzed texts, the history of international theatre and modern movements in theatre. In my final year I specialized in set design and designed three sets for public performances. My dissertation concerned semiotics and the stage, objects under the spotlight of interpretation. I believe my undergraduate degree has given me excellent critical analysis and teamwork skills.

I believe in life long learning. While living in London I took short courses at the School of Oriental and African Studies, including courses in: twentieth century Japanese history, Japanese film, Japanese theatre and Japanese language.
