Professional Experience:
My main area of expertise is renewable energy (solar thermal, biomass, energy storage, geothermal) and also experienced on postharvest food processing, wastewater and environmental management. My key career highlights are:
• Assisted in writing and winning proposal bids with total value in excess of £2.5 million. The premise of the proposals is the reduction of environmental impact through CO2 reduction by utilising best available technologies and best practices in food production through renewable energy and energy efficiency;
• Innovated and won the innovation award for storing solar energy to be used in food value chain/processing;
• Organised stakeholder engagement events for the energy industry via the Energy Institute.

My professional experience include working as a researcher in universities in UK and Belgium, engineering consultancy (Torver Environmental), plastic manufacturer (RAVAGO), and consulting through energy auditing for levy board and Food & Drinks SMEs in the UK. I have 8 years of experience working as an energy researcher at the University of Warwick, University of Sheffield, and University of Newcastle. I also have a PhD in engineering and have 13 publications as book chapter and journal papers which have broadened my knowledge and expertise, which include:

• Antibiotic resistance spread via wastewater;
• Life cycle assessment of silicon based photovoltaic technologies;
• The impact of inadequate energy access on postharvest food practices of artisanal farmers and food processors, and the resulting food losses and contamination;
• Low grade heat recovery (250C) technologies that are available for low grade heat recovery for storage, cooling and electricity generation.

Education:
I completed my A-Levels studies at Taylor’s College in Malaysia in December of 2002. I obtained all ‘A’s for Physics, Maths, Further Maths, and Chemistry. In July of 2007, I completed my Master in Engineering, specialising in Chemical Engineering at the University of Birmingham in the UK. While doing my Master, I also won Engineering Design Project Competition for wastewater treatment and Haffenden research prize for energy engineering. I graduated with a first class honours. In November of 2010, I graduated from University of Warwick with a PhD in Engineering.

• Institute of Chemical Engineers Global Awards 2015 in “Dhirubhai Ambani Award for Outstanding Chemical Engineering Innovation for Resource-Poor People;
• MEng Haffenden research prize;

• PRINCE2 Project Management Course (Foundation level);
• Energy Audit Certification from Schneider Electric;

3) Elected Chair/Vice-Chair of North East Young Professional Network (NEYPN) of the Energy Institute:
• Organised symposium: “The future of energy industry: 2 steps forward 1 step back”;
• Organised & presented a seminar: Efficient Triple-Energy Outlook and Practices to Manage UK’s 10-40 TWh of Waste Heat;
• Organised & presented in: Energy Efficiency Lessons from the Food & Beverage Industry;

4) Global Challenges Officer at Network of Early-Career Sustainable Scientists & Sustainable Engineers.

5) Fund-raising: Cycled 800 km through Scotland and raised moneyfor Practical Action to raise awareness of the importance of food and energy intervention for sustainable and international development.
