Professional Experience:
Iā€™m a highly experienced development practitioner with over 24 years of experience working in and with humanitarian and development organizations across 10 countries in Europe and Africa.
My experience is across a variety of development sectors including: gender and gender based violence, population and reproductive health and rights, HIV/AIDS, youth development, water and sanitation, relief and food security, governance and organizational assessments and development, capacity building, baseline survey, impact assessment and overall programme/project development implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programmes.
I am a trainer for good governance for Institute of Corporate Governance in Uganda and have build capacity of government and CSO institutions over the years. I have worked with national and international NGOs such as WaterAid, SNV, Ockenden International and provided consultancy services for many others.
I have experience in project management. I provided leadership, developed and managed a gender sensitive UN Joint Programme on population which involved 10 UN Agencies (UNFPA, IOM, UNICEF, UNWOMEN, WFP, WHO, UNHCR, UNAIDS, ILO AND UNHABITAT); 5 Ministries (MoFPED, MoH, MoES, MoLG, MLHUD, Statutory bodies including: Population Secretariat, Uganda Bureau of Statistics and Uganda Registration Bureau Services, Local governments from 15 districts and CSO implementing partners). I provided leadership, coordinated and facilitated the programme development, facilitated all the quarterly and annual planning meetings and reviews involving all the stakeholder. Early I managed UNDP Micro-projects programme as a regional Coordinator in Eastern Uganda and one of the projects funded worn a UN Award for poverty Eradication in 1995.
For UNDP South Sudan, I undertook capacity assessment of Civil society for UNDP pre-qualification. I contacted a Rapid Gender Assessment in Local governance which made me to travel to most of the states. The assessment revealed the ugly face of gender discrimination. I presented the findings on International Women's day in 2008 at the National celebrations in Juba University. Within that assignment I trained Local Government Administrators in how to mainstream gender in Local Government Planning. I also trained Fender Focal Point persons from all the 10 states in gender mainstreaming and advocacy. Based on the assessment results, I developed a Local Government framework for Gender mainstreaming.
I facilitated the development of National Action Plan for Women Entrepreneurship and Development (2015-2019) supported by ILO for Ministry of Gender Labour and Social Development. Under IOM leadership, I developed gender sensitive National Action Plan for HVI/AIDS in the Works and Transport sector for mobile/migrant workers which involved UN Joint Support on HIV/AIDS (JUPSA) team. I therefore have a good understanding of the values and functioning of UN systems. For UNWOMEN in Uganda, I just concluded development of Annual
