Professional Experience:
Five years of research consultancy experience conducting education research assignments for external clients, with a record of generating further income. My study 'Private Schools for the Poor' based on qualitative field research in India enabled Endeva to secure a World Bank consultancy to research education business model innovations.

This consultancy I completed by analysing quantitative data and in-depth interviews to construct an innovations database and write analytical case studies according to World Bank priorities – including scalability, replicability and financial sustainability. This required me to acquire technical knowledge of educational policy issues and priorities in developing countries and analyse how they influenced these innovations.

This in turn led to my research consultancy for the Business Fights Poverty consortium, advising on a guide for potential investors in solutions to improve low-fee primary education in developing countries. Again this incorporated analysis of education policy debates on this sector and investor/donor priorities with regard to education effectiveness.

My 20 years of print and digital editorial and communications experience (detail in my CV) ranges widely from research and editing for a Japanese newspaper to development editing inclusive business case studies for the UNDP, contributing promotional and fundraising materials for a Scottish NGO, contributing written and multimedia content and editorial direction to Allianz's primary online thought leadership platforms, to launching a telecoms business magazine for Informa Media.
Education:
Masters with Distinction in International Development and Education from Newcastle University (2014), with a focus on the role of the private sector in education and the phenomenon of low-fee private schools. Also awarded a Distinction for Masters dissertation, based on mixed methods primary research in Ghana, which analysed and evaluated the impacts of a chain of low-fee private schools on neighbouring schools as well as their competitive responses.

Bachelors Degree (2.1) in Modern History and English from Oxford University
