Professional Experience: |
I have managed R&D programs in agriculture, natural resource, as well as in agricultural market development and decision support. I led individual research projects on sustainable commodity intensification, supply chain inclusive development of high value crops, and nutrient management in Latin America, Southeast Asia and West Africa. My engagement principles are outcome driven and focused on delivery. Specific outcomes include improved agricultural production and marketing, and sustainable business models for farming enterprises and their products. Developed outputs included strategies, policies and practical management interventions. Results were made accessible through learning partnerships, dialogue and engagement. All this has contributed to behavioral and management change in agricultural industries (coffee, cocoa, oil palm, maize) and supported rural development. Over the past 15 years I worked for and with non-governmental organizations, private industry and research institutions. I have advised, and have learned from, farmers, scientists, entrepreneurs, senior managers and administrators: in the field, in processing stations, factories, and boardrooms. This has developed my strategic thinking, and the ability to identify opportunities for rural development, improved communication and effective networking. I have published in books, articles and reports. I have grown personally and professionally by living in different cultures, on different continents, under challenging working conditions, and in societies with diverse religious values.
Leadership: strategic thinking, motivating and leading international multicultural teams, exceling under pressure, and providing professional guidance and advice as trusted colleague Problem solving: identify critical factors in business cases and development opportunities, conceptualize solutions, mobilize resources, and implement financial and operational processes Networking: negotiate, develop and cultivate strong, lasting and respectful relationships with a wide variety of partners including farmers and members of Boards of Directors Communication: communicate using intuitive and analytical understanding of institutional context and personalities, represent organization and clients in responsible manner in international dialogue
