Professional Experience:
Trained as an engineer and scientist, Ana spent most of her career working as a researcher at NASA and NOAA. She developed algorithms to improve the retrieval of Land Surface Temperature from satellites and use those measurements to enhance decision making. To validate her work, she conducted extensive fields work in Southern Africa (Zambia and South Africa), and in New Mexico. Ana worked closely with communities aiming to use science data to improve their decision making, specifically around irrigation scheduling and building resilience to climate change. She was the data manager for the National Climate Assessment for 1.5 years and helped design and implement the data management strategy for that program. Since 2014, Ana has been a Principal with Climate Data Solutions, LLC (that she founded). In that capacity, she focus on helping the federal government design and implement optimal ways to make their climate-relevant data more discoverable, accessible and usable by communities, and helps businesses and communities identify data and tools relevant to support their decision making in the climate space.
