Professional Experience: |
I have previous professional experience in migration issues, climate change mitigation, project management and implementation of field level environmental management programme in developing country context in Southeast Asia.
Due to my previous work experience as a Technical Advisor for the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Lao PDR, I have excellent knowledge and understanding of climate change mitigation, renewable energy, sustainable development and other environment related issues. In my work I have assisted key government decision-makers in Lao PDR to manage the environment and natural resources in a sustainable way and to strengthen the climate change mitigation in planning and budget processes. I have coordinated research and workshops concerning Environmental and Social Impact Assessment processes, industrial environmental management, cleaner production, chemical safety, green industry and waste management activities. Together with the UN Poverty-Environment Initiative (PEI) I organized a half-year training programme on public involvement in hydropower projects. Moreover, I have brought together a research activity on Financial Mechanisms of Environmental Monitoring in Lao PDR and assisted in reviewing of Natural Resources and Environment Strategy of Lao PDR.
I have gained general project management skills such as planning, reporting, evaluation and programme monitoring in my previous work. Having worked as an Officer for the Finnish Government, I also have diverse professional experience on policy advocacy, policy-driven research and preparing concept notes. I have worked with the issues concerning the Sustainable Development Goals in the Ministry of Environment of Finland, where I participated in the preparations of the Rio +20 Conference, and in the Ministry of Education and Culture of Finland where I coordinated the science cooperation projects, including climate change and energy research, with Southeast Asian and Chinese counterparts. At the moment I am gaining valuable work experience as an operational Team Leader at the Finnish Migration Service, where my responsibilities include supervising, quality planning and monitoring achievements of results.
Besides my project management skills and substantial knowledge of environmental issues, I also have distinguished social skills and I am able to adapt new environments easily. I learn quickly, I have advanced coordination and work planning skills and I am flexible and adjust to change. I have strong sense of internationalism and proven ability to work in multicultural environments. Through my work and studies I have gained strong research and analytical skills and excellent abilities to compile information from various sources. I have the ability to analytically process and produce information and well-developed prerequisites to deliver results under pressure. Moreover, I have extensive experience in working in challenging environments at the field.
