Professional Experience: |
I hold a MA Development Studies and a BSc Environmental Science. I have also gained an online Post Graduate Cert. in Global Health. I am highly skilled in survey data analysis (using Stata), also producing maps and infographics to support reporting.
I have extensive project management and field experience, including managing complex, concurrent and partner-based projects involving research and communication of results, ensuring high standards of delivery. Contexts include the Syrian crisis (Jordan) and D.R. Congo working closely with partners and clients such as UN agencies, universities, sector working groups, government departments, health centres and other NGOs. Particularly in Jordan and in my current role as an independent consultant, I have been the primary decision maker and leader of projects, including establishing partner relationships and ensuring that the needs of partners are met.
More recently, as an Evaluation Consultant, projects I have led and implemented with partners include:
• Oxfam International (February 2017): statistical analysis of impact assessment data following the earthquake response in Nepal (using Stata 14) to support reporting on response impact. Statistical tests included multivariate analysis of indicators, regressions and paired t-tests. “Next time we need such work carried out I would like to ask you again” Dr Vivien Walden, MEAL Team Leader, Global Humanitarian Team, Oxfam (February 2017).
• World Relief (Aug – Oct 16): independent evaluation of project: ‘Community and Household Resilience in Rural Somaliland’ to assess impact, strategy, effectiveness and quality. Highlighting lessons learned from the experience of stakeholders, as well as capacity building with project teams. “Thank you for your commitment to this evaluation and the time you have spent with us on each step. We appreciate your systematic approach and we have learnt how to develop and carry out a project evaluation” Ashwaq Abdi Hashi, Community Mobiliser Somaliland, World Relief Germany (October 2016).
• Save the Children UK (March – July 16): comprehensive impact and quality analysis to inform the following strategy period through meta-analysis of humanitarian response evaluation reports. Designed a methodology and analytical framework tool based on the Systematic Review methodology to conduct data synthesis and generate a summary of evaluation evidence from evaluation findings. “I am very much impressed by the approach you have proposed for the methodology” Taitos Matafeni, Head of Impact, Innovation and Evidence, Save the Children UK (March 2016).
