Projects handled

[A] Construction project in Bikele, Gabon, West Africa: The project was a 556 acre low cost housing funded by EXIM Bank of India. Our scope of work was limited to civil construction. My responsibilities included [1] Selection of the core group of engineers [2] Accompanying this core team to Bikele and settling down for work [3] Initiating meetings with the Architect, Town Planning & other government departments and the Lebanese contractor responsible for land clearance, filling and leveling [4] Since Gabon’s law stipulated a minimum percentage of Gabonese workers to be employed, two authorized local labour contractors were appointed to supply workers [5] Opening of local & foreign currency bank accounts, obtaining Labour License, construction of labour quarters as per labour housing stipulation, arranging visas for Indian workers and their subsequent inward passage to Gabon were other activities taken care of [6] Although main raw material suppliers were appointed by the Town Planning Department, supply-chain management was entirely my responsibility [7] I had to also set up and activate automated MIS systems with Architect & Town Planning Department AND with our HO Finance Department

[B] MIS design and implementation through an Oracle based ERP system: This project was spread over 18 months and was related to the Engineering & Technical Consulting industry. The ERP system was developed by Price Waterhouse Coopers [PWC]. The essential Financial & Commercial design aspects were discussed in detail and finalized with my team with specific focus on Internal Control & Output Data Quality. Technical & Operational designs were discussed jointly with my team and the Technical & Operational Team. The completed system was made functional and on-line from the 13th month and ran parallel to the existing system for 3 months during which many modifications were done to fine-tune the system with ease of maintenance, user-friendliness and quality data output. The system became independent from the 16th month

[C] Human Resource [HR] system design and implementation: These were 2 independent projects for 2 different Companies in 2 different industries. However, the features of the two HR systems were almost the same and comprised of [1] Organisation Hierarchy design with 7 layers with reporting lines and minimum work experience [2] Salary Grades & Allowances for each layer with increment percentage/amount [3] Fitment of existing employees in the new hierarchy levels [4] Recruitment system and recruitment decision making process [5] Induction & Training system [6] Annual Review and Promotion

[D] Establishing offices & implementing systems in Bangladesh & Nepal: For a US based Logistics Company l set up the Company’s financial and operational systems. My responsibilities included [1] Selection of Local Partner [2] Company formation [3] Obtaining required statutory approvals [4] Recruitment of local employees and obtaining work permits for key Indian employees to be based in these countries [5] Training of select employees for handling the Company’s Automated Financial & Operational Systems
