I am a dynamic, honest and reliable person, with strong communication, excellent Project Management and great proposal development skills with over 10 years of experience in managing multi-sectoral programs, including child protection, health, education, food aid, food security, livelihoods and water and sanitation projects. Vast experience with USAID/OFDA, DFID, UNDP, ECHO, WFP, IOM, FAO, UNICEF, World Bank and private donors. I have experience in designing, development, implementing, monitoring and evaluating programmes as well as managing donor and stakeholder relationships with international partners, UN agencies, and government line ministries. My leadership roles in proposal development have successfully led to multi-million dollar awards. As a result of implementing and managing emergency humanitarian and developmental programmes in hardship areas, I have gained deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities of working with extremely vulnerable populations in extremely precarious, hardship environments.
Over the years, I have managed large teams from diverse cultural backgrounds successfully. With regards to team management skills, I come from the school of thought that supports the use of combined transformational and transactional leadership styles to motivate project teams in achieving set donor, beneficiaries and organisational goals by setting realistic, feasible and achievable project objectives. My ability to communicate effectively has been an asset in ensuring quality human resource management in my past and current assignments. I believe in constructive dialogue to mitigate and solve problems before they escalate. I am a strong believer of community involvement and participation in all phases of a project to promote community sense of ownership and sustainability of projects. I also believe in using feasible, cost effective and sustainable implementation approaches that ensure continuity of projects beyond the grant life cycle. I have good track record of achieving concrete, tangible and measurable results and served as a catalyst for successful start-up and on-going management programs in both emergency humanitarian and development contexts.
It is worth mentioning that I deputise the Country Director at my current assignment. In his absence, I take full charge of the country office operations. My approach of promoting protection mainstreaming on all projects has contributed vastly in reduction of tensions among communities, mitigation against gender based violence and elimination of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA) of vulnerable beneficiaries including returnees, women headed households, the elderly, Internally Displaced Persons, persons living with disability, and minors.
