Professional Experience: |
Prior to completing my master's degree I served as Senior Development and Communications Associate with the nonprofit NGO Gardens for Health International and, before that, as Program Coordinator for Global Programs with the international consulting arm of Partners Healthcare. In the latter position I lived for almost two years in the Middle East working on project implementation for a series of high-level contracts around emergency preparedness and women’s health. I also helped coordinate conferences, meeting and events and prepared regular briefings, deliverables reports, and client updates. With Gardens for Health, I moved from the consulting to the nonprofit sector and also shifted my focus to agricultural sustainability and nutrition policy. Alongside my commitments as a Global Health Corps Fellow – which included leadership training, mentoring and professional development – I worked closely with senior leadership on strategic communications design as well as implementation. This included a variety of tasks ranging from donor stewardship and campaign management to report writing, content development and website redesign. I have also volunteered with the women's empowerment nonprofit Rachna Satrei in Cambodia and with the Louisiana Himalaya Association in northern India where I provided tutoring for a Tibetan refugee learning partner and worked with local groups around community development. Currently, I am working as a freelance photographer/videographer and hope to continue to expand my skills and profile in this area going forward.
