Operations and Plans Officer, U.S. Marine Corps, Regional Command (Southwest), Helmand Province, Afghanistan, September 2011 - March 2013
-Co-chaired a multinational, multiagency planning team that formulated a culturally relevant strategy for training Afghan security forces and implementing governance and economic programs working towards regional stability in Helmand Province.
-Developed and coordinated detailed plans for the withdrawal of 12,000 personnel from Helmand Province over a four month period. Plans included designing the geographic distribution and capabilities of remaining personnel. Updates were routinely presented to the highest levels of Command. Guidance was received and incorporated in an iterative 18-month process.
-Designed and implemented a data management program using Microsoft Access to track the status of all ill, injured, wounded, and deceased military personnel. Presented detailed statistics with 100% accuracy to the highest levels of Command in both written and verbal format.
-Developed and implemented local directives for the administration of 19,000 personnel. Ensured dissemination and accessibility of information through SharePoint design and maintenance and site visits to conduct face to face training.
-Trained, mentored, and led a team of 12 people throughout a challenging year-long deployment. Ensured continued personal and professional development, wellbeing, comfort, and morale.
