Professional Experience: |
I’ve built my career in a variety of roles and fields, primarily in education in emergencies and disaster risk reduction. My core strength is my ability to work simultaneously in many different functions: researcher, advisor, field officer, project coordinator, project manager; strategy development; policy dialogue facilitator; curriculum developer, instructor-facilitator, and many others. In sum, I’m not only used to wearing many hats, I sincerely enjoy it.
I have been working on disaster risk reduction field as a freelance – project based consultant since 1999 for national and international organizations, such as Turkish Prime Ministry, Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), Turkish Ministry of Education (MoE), Turkish Ministry of Health (MoE), Istanbul Governorship, Bogazici University KOERI; UNICEF Turkey, IoM Turkey, UNFPA Turkey, USAID/OFDA, JICA, Save the Children, NRC, Concern WordWide, GeoHazard International, American Red Cross, World Bank, etc.
Since 2009, I have been directly working in the ‘quality and accountability’ and its respective standard frameworks. My experience on the quality and accountability began with being Turkey focal points and serving as a certified instructor of both the Sphere Project and the International Network on Education in Emergencies (INEE), respectively. The end result – my experiences of serving as Core Humanitarian Standard focal point as well as a CHS instructor.
I have been teaching the DRR and Bussiness Continuity course at the Bogazici University as a part-time lecturer since 2005.
