Honed through multiple years of working with a diverse array of partners in refugee resettlement, I would bring strong diplomatic and liaising skills to your operation. During my six year long career, I have advocated for increased refugee protection in coordination with partner organizations while working as an expert on mission at UNHCR in Nepal and Chad, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Chad and the Church World Service (CWS) in Kenya. I have spent significant time engaging directly with refugees at all organizations while counseling and/or completing casework responsibilities. These experiences would provide a strong foundation for multiple positions while building and maintaining effective contacts and relationships with other departments, stakeholders, government officials, liaising with partners and engaging with the population of concern.
I bring solid management skills to this position having been involved in hiring, training, capacity building, budget management, supervising staff and reporting at IOM and CWS. My significant experience in building the capacity of staff, creating standard operating procedures, managing refugee resettlement projects and working with budgets at both these organizations would serve UNHCR well in order to assure the coordination of registration activities as well as implementation and ensure adherence of standard operation procedures.

My graduate education in Sociology-Anthropology emphasized social theory, writing and research methodology. It’s relevancy is demonstrated by the analytical skills required for my Master’s thesis entitled Molding and Moving Bodies: African Football Labor Migrants in Egypt and my coursework that included the topics of refugees and migration. I am skilled at elaborating qualitative data and analyzing information from multiple-sources. My degree program also contributed to professional competencies in problem solving and critical thinking. My studies would significantly prepare me to synthesize and distill complex information.
