Area of Expertise:
  • Human Rights, Law, Migration, Conflicts, Justice
Professional Experience:
My previous work experience spanning different public, private and NGO sectors has contributed a great deal to the development of my business acumen across a variety of disciplines, notably; international relations and international law, communications and development, digital marketing and fundraising. I’ve held diverse positions over the years; the most recent is Head of the International Relations Department at the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology (MoICT) in Jordan, whereby considerable experience was gained in the areas of communication and policy development. For example, my work entailed the following:

a) Reporting to UNESCO on the development of Action line C/8: “Cultural diversity and identity, linguistic diversity and local content.”
b) Assisting in the conceptualization of Jordan-EU Action plan for the Seventh Framework Program for Research and innovation in the ICT sector.
c) Writing “funding proposals” to enhance ICT export trade and “assessment reports” to evaluate the work undertaken on ICT-related tenders: e.g. building Jordan’s IT park in Irbid.
d) Another aspect to my work involved drafting and identifying bilateral cooperation agreements to enhance the development and growth of Jordan’s ICT sector.
e) M&E of the World Summit on Information Society targets, particularly as they relate to education and access to information

In previous years, I received a scholarship in 2001 from the School for International Training (SIT) in Vermont, USA to study conflict transformation, in which a large aspect of it focused on civil society initiatives in peace building. As a staunch believer in children’s rights, my dissertation for that degree focused on child labor practices as a means of conflict prevention, whereupon the results of my research work were published in the university CLEA Magazine on Child labor. Moreover, my experience in international relations whilst working as the MENA Advocacy Coordinator for the Landmine Survivors Network enhanced my advocacy skills, particularly during the drafting of the UN convention on the rights of persons with disabilities in NY.

On the side, I founded a company in the UK to provide multilingual copywriting services with a view to support the marketing and communication requirements of local and UK industries. It is titled: WritePilot. The establishment of WritePilot allowed me to traverse the broad spectrum of knowledge clusters in the field of anti-corruption and transparency, e-governance, various aspects of international law (i.e. human rights, women’s rights, children’s rights and disability rights as well as refugee rights and investment law), entrepreneurship and company formation, including social media and digital marketing (understanding the critical elements for front-end and back-end operations).
The research work behind identifying the best legal structure for company registration was at the time impressive as I was able, through Internet research,
Education:
I have a MA degree in Diplomacy and International law from Lancaster University, one of the top 10 universities in the UK, My dissertation focused on the principle of Network Neutrality if it is reflective of customary international law, in which I tackled the issue from diverse viewpoints: The economic, political and human rights. I obtained 72/80 (Distinction).

I also studied civil society initiatives in peace-building (conflict transformation) from the School of International Training in Vermont, USA. My dissertation focused on Child labour practices as a means of conflict prevention.

I have a BA in English literature and political sciences from Jordan University and have been well involved with peace-keeping efforts in Cyprus-Turkey and Jordan's normalisation process with Israel in Jordan much of which were organised by SIT, the Norwegian and Danish youth councils.

It is titled: WritePilot. The design and marketing material can be viewed on the company’s website, facebook fan page, Pinterest and linkedin. The research work behind identifying the best legal structure for company registration was at the time impressive as I was able, through Internet research, to register the company online as a Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) and as a result avoid huge payments of registration and renting fees. I was the first to capitalize on this legal loophole to which I owe much of my success to the UK Business Link website, now Digital Gov. In appreciation of my efforts, I was invited to visit the offices of Digital Gov. in the UK in order to better understand their business operations and future e-government strategies. This was administered as part of the UK’s technical support program to Jordan.

In short, I proved to be insightful and creative in all the areas I endeavored to participate in, particularly vis-à-vis development, ICT and human rights. I have been awarded several scholarships over the course of my career from well-reputable local and international organizations as the International Development Law Organization in Rome (IDLO), the School for International Training (SIT) in VT, the World Bank in DC to study communications and good governance, Oasis in Jordan and the John Smith Memorial Trust & Chevening in the UK. Hence, I am a John Smith fellow as well as a Chevening fellow. Moreover, I have several publications on the inter
