Education: |
I received a Master's Degree in International Health/Health Education (MPH) from Loma Linda University (September 1993 - June 1995). Within the MPH program; study areas included: (1) International health and community development, (2) Health policy (national and international), (3) HIV/AIDS (national and international), (4) International relations, (5) Epidemiology and statistics, (6) International primary health care, (7) International environmental health, (8) Maternal and Child Health [MCH], (9) Refugee Health, and (10) International health administration.
More specifically, during my MPH Graduate Studies, I served one month (August 1994) in Honduras assessing community development projects and primary health care activities throughout the country. I also traveled to Costa Rica and El Salvador to research and study environmental and community development/health projects under the direction of government and non-government organizations, reviewing their concepts and practices.
Additionally, during graduate school, I volunteered to assist a Mobil Public Healthcare Team (based out of Loma Linda University) in the delivery of primary health care in Brazil (one month, January 1995).
My MPH degree has lead me to a career in high-level program, administration, policy, and practice, where advanced analytical and conceptual capabilities are required and implemented, with increased emphasis on high level skills in problem-solving, leadership, project design and management, representation skills, negotiation, post conflict issues and working national & international organizations (international non-government organizations [NGOs], UN agencies, USAID, CIDA, national NGOs, etc.) and delivery of service components as they directly relate to the above health and development areas.
