Since receiving my J.D. in 2008, I have practiced law in California and Boston, USA and have received my LL.M. from Tel Aviv University, Buchmann Faculty of Law in International Law, within the Law, Global Governance, and Human Rights Track, in Israel. I began my career in law in California, where I practiced a variety of different fields, including workers compensation, immigration family law, and civil litigation. I then continued my focus on immigration law in Boston, where I specialized in deportation proceedings at the Immigration Court in Boston. Immigration and refugee law had always been an area of great interest to me during my law school studies. My work in Boston ranged from composing briefs, motions and memorandums for complex deportation proceedings involving criminal issues, bond hearings, requests for prosecutorial discretion, appeals to the Board of Immigration Appeals, and to the First Circuit Court of Appeals. I worked closely with, advised and counseled all of my clients, many of which were refugees and asylees from different countries, on both issues relating to their case and otherwise. I would like to continue helping refugees and asylees in the field, and hope that this will be the first step to a career in addressing global issues at their root level. With my LL.M. in International Law, focused upon Law, Global Governance, and Human Rights, I believe my experience and education qualify me for a position where I can enhance the protection of refugees, and promote international and regional refugee law principles. In addition, I believe that having lived abroad in France, Israel, and Singapore over the past several years, my ability to understand and interact with different cultural nuances will result in a successful fit in any work environment.
