Christoph is currently working as short term consultant for health information systems in Vietnam supporting 9 hospitals to implement patient based electronic information systems. His prior assignment with the World Health Organization/Health Metrics Network focused on supporting countries to analyze and improve their health information system. He was responsible for harmonizing HIS implementation in the English speaking Caribbean, for selected West-African countries and Central America. His contract ended in July 2011. His areas of expertise include facility and patient-based health information systems (HIS) in low income countries and he had long-term country assignments in Cameroon, Peru, India, Syria, Guatemala, Nepal, Ecuador, Yemen and Indonesia supporting regional and national public health entities to develop facility-based health information systems. He worked 13 years for the German Agency for Technical Cooperation (GTZ), and later as a short-term consultant for various bilateral and international donor organizations and health consultancies (EPOS). He developed project monitoring systems using process and output-based indicators for financial and technical cooperation projects in Central America, Senegal, Dominican Republic, Peru, and Uganda. Strengthening human resources capacity for HIS has been one of his additional areas of focus. Christoph has facilitated various training courses for the improvement of data use for decision making, basic health indicators, and operational planning modules targeting district and regional public health managers.
