Professional Experience:
I am an Agriculture Specialist at the World Bank who considers herself an enthusiastic, open-minded, and highly committed sustainability thinker. I possess an analytical, strategic, and networking mind; I love to work across disciplines in a multicultural environment, and I am very open to frequent travels.

At the Food and Agriculture Department of the World Bank, my work has centered around agri-food system resilience and agriculture policy. I provided technical assistance to multi-million USD lending operations and facilitated the dialogue with various governments to foster the resilience of smallholders in Africa. In partnership with the CGIAR and FAO, among others, I coauthored technical papers on leveraging climate finance for the agriculture sector and on the impact of productive diversification on resilience and nutritional diversity.

I possess significant professional experience in working with a wide range of stakeholders, including the Rio Conventions. Within the GIZ Business and Biodiversity Initiative, I engaged private sector partners to include biodiversity conservation into their business plans, and organized high-level meetings at the COP9 of the UNCBD in Bonn. My work for UNEP-TEEB (The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity) and the GIZ Economics of Land Degradation Initiative (ELD) centered around the coordination between UNEP, the UNCCD Secretariat, and diverse research centers. Finally, I engaged in the Koronivia Joint Work on Agriculture to integrate agroecosystem resilience in UNFCCC negotiations.

Beside German (mother tongue) I speak English (fluently), French and Spanish (advanced), and Russian, Romanian, and Swedish (basic).
Education:
I have a strong academic background related to social-ecological systems thinking. My Master thesis in Geography at Stockholm University and Stockholm Resilience Center assessed the role of natural resource tenure in ecosystem restoration in the Sahel.

During my PhD. in Political Science at Leuphana University Lueneburg (Germany), I analyzed the institutions governing rural development and biodiversity conservation in Romania’s traditional farming landscapes. I organized and implemented scenario planning workshops, held lectures on environmental governance, and (co-)authored multiple papers in high-impact journals.

I started my academic career with a Bachelor of Arts in European Studies, focusing on European law and politics.
