Professional Experience:
Million Kassa is an accomplished monitoring and evaluation specialist with over 10 years of experience in programme development and instructional leadership working with the Ministry of Education and international non-profit organisations in Ethiopia & United States. He has worked on multiple Africa projects, funded by prominent organisations like USAID, the World Bank and the UN. He is experienced in logic models, empirical research and theory of change. He studied the education disparity between girls and boys in primary schools in Sothern Nations region in Ethiopia and suggested a tutorial program for girls, which could improve the performance of girls. The program was realized by the support of Wereda Education Office and Action Aid Ethiopia. Million developed process/outcome indicators and impact metrics to measure the progress of projects done by School-to-School International. He collected, analysed and interpreted data, to present the outcomes to various stakeholders. He analysed the impact of USAID-funded Early Grade Reading Assessment (EGRA) in sub-Saharan African countries while he was Research Fellow at World Education, Inc. As a result of the professional development programmes for teachers and social workers planned and executed by him, the enrolment in primary schools was enhanced by 75 percent in Bonga refugee primary school in Gambella, Ethiopia. When Million was the Department Head of Dalocha Education Department in Ethiopia, he oversaw a budget of more than £760,000, supervised education offices and managed the academic and administrative staff.
Education:
MA in Sustainable International Development from Brandeis University (USA), BA in Business Administration from University of the District of Columbia (USA) and Diploma in Educational Administration from Addis Ababa University (Ethiopia). Impact evaluation training at Claremont graduate school in California and Big data with Strategic Data Project at Harvard School of Education.
