My recent full time assignments included the following : with CARE - first in Bangladesh, where I led CARE US’s largest worldwide program. This was in the area of integrated food security with a 5 year budget of US $ 125 million. I then moved as Country Director, Nepal based out of Kathmandu, managing country operations in a period which saw sudden and dramatic socio-political shifts which had a major impact on civil society.. In 2010, I moved to CARE India where a major responsibility included setting up the India resource mobilization unit. We raised resources from individuals, institutions and corporates and in 4 years the unit raised around US $ 4 million. Prior to CARE I worked with PLAN International in India, SriLanka and Bangladesh and managed Indonesia, and Nepal country operations as Country Director. These experiences enriched and enhanced my ability to cope and deal with complex and challenging development contexts and issues. My work areas included strategic oversight of programs, HR, management of the country offices including Government relations and inter-country linkaging. Through all my work my commitment and passion for the issues and concerns of the marginalised sections of society particularly the poorest women and children in situations of extreme vulnerability, were strengthened. As a development professional rights based programming has always been the driving force behind most of my work with communities.
