Professional Experience: |
I have had more than 30 years’ work experience in the government, banking and NGO/media sectors. I was a member of the University of Nairobi Council for 6 years and have had strong corporate governance experience as a member of all the boards of all state corporations in the tourist public sector when I was an Assistant Inspector of State Corporations in the Office of the President.
My management experience includes 9 years as the CEO of FEBA Radio Kenya, an international NGO, where I was involved in management, planning, recruitment, financial and budgetary control, and liaison with external stakeholders, donors and the global FEBA community. I was also a member of the Media Owners Association. In the National Bank of Kenya I was a Branch Manager and a Personal Assistant to the Managing Director. In the later role I was involved in facilitating the management of all bank functions across the board and the restructuring and transformation of the bank. In the Office of the President, I was responsible for the management of donor funded training programs for public sector workers in overseas universities for selected ministries.
I have also been involved in the organisation and management of high profile international management development and advocacy events. At the National Bank I launched and managed the First Commonwealth Africa Banking Seminar intended to provide executive education for bank CEOs and Central Bank Governors across Africa. In Feba I organised a series of high level consultation programs in conflict resolution for religious and political leaders including cabinet ministers and members of parliament. At a wider policy level I worked for the Presidential Working Party on Education and Manpower Training for the Next Decade and Beyond.
I worked a consultant for the World Tourism Organisation in Bangladesh advising the government on the possibilities of setting up wildlife tourism modelled after Kenya’s famous safari tourism. More recently I worked as a consultant for the UN Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council in Geneva where I developed a strategy to raise funds from the private sector for the agency. I am currently a Director of Audible Africa, a media content developer and provider.
