Professional Experience:
I have 16 plus years of work experience on species/biodiversity conservation and natural resource management with several leading national and multinational institutions and projects/programmes. Among these are IUCN Bangladesh; Center for Environmental and Geographic Information Services (CEGIS); St. Martin’s Ecotourism and Biodiversity Conservation Project, DoE/MoEF/GoB; Fourth Fisheries Project (FFP)-GEF/WB/DoF-MoFL; ENTERMET Ltd.; GHARONI; Asia Pacific Network (APN); Asiatic Society; BUET and ESTUARY. I have work experience of international/multinational donor funded projects, programmes and missions including UNDP, USAID, World Bank, GEF, FAO, UNEP, SDC, EKN, GIZ, DANIDA, CARE, DFID, WFC, ESPA, etc. Have wide ranging working knowledge at national, sub-regional and regional level in South Asian countries.

I have been working in different capacities (National Coordinator-MFF/Project Manager/Senior Programme Officer/Dialogue Coordinator-E4L/Programme Officer/Monitoring and Evaluation Officer) for IUCN Bangladesh since 2009 and have been responsible for developing and managing programmes for country office as well as Asia Regional Office on species conservation, environmental governance, natural resource management, livelihoods sustainability, grant management, human-animal conflict management, policy advocacy on illegal trade/killing, DRR and disaster management, climate change mitigation and adaptation, forest management and restoration, community empowerment, protected area management, water resources planning, fisheries management, project M&E, EIA/IEE/Environmental Assessment and sustainable extraction of coastal/marine resources. Currently, I am working as National Coordinator-Bangladesh of the Mangroves for the Future Programme which is being implemented jointly by IUCN and UNDP in 11 Asian countries. I am familiar with national and international policies/conventions/goals specially SDGs, CBD, RAMSAR, UNCCC, UNCCD, UNCLOS, CITES, Water Convention, etc.

I am a certified IUCN Red List assessor. I was assigned as the Project Manager of the Red List Project in Bangladesh in which I worked as Technical Coordinator in assessing 1619 species which led to the publication of seven-volumes of the Red List of Species of Bangladesh. I had the overall responsibility of overseeing the recently concluded red listing exercise in Bangladesh. I was nominated as co-trainer by RLU-UK and provided red list training to 70 assessors. I believe that my experience on preparing Sundarbans Biodiversity Management Plan including addressing issue of the human-tiger conflict and illegal trade/killing of Bengal Tiger, Spotted Deer and other animals would help me to perform any position of species and ecosystem conservation.
