Having enjoyed a successful and rewarding military career, I transferred from full time active Navy service to Navy Active Reserve on 31 July 2009 seeking broader challenges. My background is with the Royal Australian Navy where I served for a lengthy period gaining extensive experience in the field from a maritime heavy industrial shipbuilding and repair/sea going perspective. Having been successful in several senior line and other management positions I have demonstrated hands on experience working with teams of people to manage workplace health, safety and environmental activities and management systems in ships, shore establishments and working and living in remote and isolated environments in the South West Pacific. I have extensive training and assessment experience in high-risk activities such as confined space fire fighting and similar maritime emergencies. I successfully lead multidisciplinary training teams to asses, train and maintain workplace capabilities and compliance with higher-level legislation and regulations.
