Professional Experience:
My professional experience has encompassed various office and field experiences, most with international organizations. Most recently, I have worked two years for the State Government of Maryland in the Office of Capital Budgeting. There, I have honed skills in budgeting, drafting briefing material, writing reports, research, and analysis. I have also worked in the office of California Representative Brad Sherman who works on the House Foreign Affairs Committee. My time there has included research and topics ranging from Ebola to exotic animal sales in the US. Prior to moving to the East Coast, my experiences were mostly in the Denver metro area where I was raised and attended university. At the British Consulate General in Denver, I conducted research for various activities. I wrote briefing material for Denver Mayor Michael Hancock's visit to the United Kingdom and drafted a 30 page report on education policy to be used by the British Council on their visit to the Rocky Mountain region. Additionally, I spent time working for the African Community Center where I helped resettle refugees in the Denver area. Other experiences include a leadership role in which I co-led a group of teenagers on a trip to France. The experience required coordination and planning as well as budget and group management. Combined, these experiences have given me a broad view and the skills necessary to be of immediate value to a variety of organizations.
Education:
I graduated from the University of Denver in 2013 with Bachelor's degrees in International Studies and English. I also earned minor degrees in French and Leadership. In 2014, I completed a Master's degree in Public Administration. Both of these experiences have imparted practical and theoretical skills essential to operating in an international environment. During my undergraduate experience, I studied abroad in Brussels where I was exposed to the international legal environment through and internship. Further, I attended hearings at the European Parliament. My graduate experience also allowed me to work with international organizations. In Denver, I worked closely with a refugee resettlement agency as well as the British Consulate General. I was able to apply my learning in these settings.
