Professional Experience:
While working at GRID-Arendal as a programme officer, I have led the initiation and development of the Transboundary Water Management Programme which now strengthens the overall organizational focus on sustainable water management in the transboundary context and is now one of GRID-Arendal’s main programmes of work. Currently, I am a freelance consultant working with GRID-Arendal’s Transboundary Water Programme, where my main responsibility lies in the coordination and support of the Programme and its projects. I manage three projects (in partnership with three water basin commissions in Africa) that focus on integrated water resource management, capacity building, communication and awareness raising, payments for eco-system services as well as disaster management and climate change. In general, my main duties are to oversee the effective development of the projects by coordinating various activities, facilitating and managing major communication among stakeholders, as well as budgeting (approx. €500,000) and reporting.

I am responsible for design, coordination and facilitation of workshops, concentrating on the improvement and development of various skills like advanced communication and outreach, integrated environmental assessments, conflict management, GIS and the use of remote sensing application in order to support better decision-making processes. The main target group of the capacity building activities within the projects are mainly the staff of the water basin organizations and other closely related stakeholders. Additionally, I am also acting as a technical coordinator on two projects, where I am managing groups of experts working on remote sensing and mapping applications of the projects, as part of the capacity building activities. Another point of focus within my current position is further strengthening GRID-Arendal’s Transboundary Water Programme via new partnerships and expanding the existing network of experts and relevant donor institutions as well as developing new project ideas.

My work experience spans the entire project life cycle – from the initial development to the evaluation of a project – and this has given me the chance to understand the projects’ impact as well as potential mistakes made that can be prevented in the future. I have been able to successfully secure funding for various projects and put together project teams by finding the most suitable experts for the implementation of the tasks. Liaising with various project stakeholders, including governments, inter-governmental, non-governmental and private sector organizations has enabled me to better oversee project processes (financial, logistical, administrative and facilitative) and to ensure efficient project implementation and effective outcomes. I am passionate about my work and take pride in the impacts of and results that the projects I work on have achieved and will achieve in future. Overall, I have been able to significantly advance my organizati
