Professional Experience: |
With nine years of experience in the fields of current affairs and journalism, I have worked in the US, Middle East, Europe and Asia in different capacities - from staff positions to independent multimedia consultancies.
As a regular contributor, I report and produce multimedia stories from South Asia and Middle East for Al Jazeera English, Newsweek, TIME, International Business Times and other outlets across the globe (published links below). I hope that by using my experience from several countries and varied contexts, I can help expand your coverage.
Most recently I led a multimedia project for the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) titled Rescue At Sea that documented the experiences of asylum seekers entering Europe through treacherous waters of the Mediterranean. We launched a unique site to showcase the stories through compelling, visually powerful multimedia stories with rich layers of text, still images, video and sound. I led the team and made editorial as well as design/format decisions.
My experience with presenting, producing and co-creating a web-based current affairs program called IPSTV (included video reports from the field) has provided me with an eclectic portfolio in the field of new media and management experience.

The program targets a young, 'tablet' generation using social media tools based on interactive, multimedia engagement with audiences. At the heart of our global discussions are citizen and community driven changes across the globe.
Over the past year I have received training in data visualization using programs such as Kylnt to incorporate data interactives and timelines in my reportage.
