Professional Experience: |
I have built my career in a variety of roles and industries, yet they have all served to advocate the interest of human development in one capacity or another. My duties included gatekeeping, liaison, advocating, and project management, along with various administrative tasks. In addition to these many roles, my detail-oriented ethic developed into a strong analytical approach that responds to the need to reevaluate strategy and reinforce action.

During the “March to the Mailbox” Census 2010 phase, I was commissioned to analyze data produced by a geocoded map of NY/NJ regions to identify key strategic areas that required additional advocacy efforts in order to boost response rates. As a result, Queens County, which is demographically challenging due to being the most ethnically diverse urban area in the world, improved its response rate from 47% during 2000 census to 52% in 2010. This 5% increase, when put into perspective means over 100,000 more participants in a population estimated to be over 2 million in Queens County alone.
I am confident that I can apply the same level of commitment and dedication to the advocacy of international development issues. As I became more engaged in the challenges of the developing world through my academic research, I recognized the immense need for sustainable advancements and progress with impactful results. And as I traveled throughout the impoverished regions in China, Egypt, Libya, and Sudan, I developed a stronger passion for humanitarian advocacy and civic engagement. I realized that the ambitious goals of the MDGs are in critical need of result-driven mobilization in order to close the existing action-gap during the post-2015 phase.
