Professional Experience: |
Research Coordination Experience with Academia and Non-Profit: High-level expertise in qualitative research specialising in case study, ethnography, participatory action research, and evaluative methodologies. My Bachelor's and Master's degree in Social Anthropology from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, provided the basic foundation for that. My PhD experience equipped me with ethical standards of research procedures along with management and in-depth analysis of the enormous volume of data using Nvivo.
I have a deeper understanding of the society, political system, and culture of the Global South development context, including Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and South Africa, based on 20 years of practical experience with NGOs, the local community, and policymakers.
Management of Community Work, Advocacy, Campaign Projects, and People: As a development professional, I served with several national and international development organisations including UNDP, ActionAid, and Oxfam in Bangladesh. Managed community-based research and advocacy projects, social media campaigns, high-profile lobby, and humanitarian response-related projects. Led several successful advocacy, campaign, and research projects in South Asia and South Africa. Represented country and organisation at national and global forums, such as joining the government delegation team of Bangladesh in the UNFCCC climate change negotiation process as a civil society representative. Recruited, supervised, and mentored team members. Initiated, coordinated, and managed partnerships with academic institutions, non-profit, private sectors, government institutions, policymakers, youths, community organisations, media, and donor agencies.
Capacity Building, Facilitation, Training, Teaching, and Mentoring Experience: Designed training modules for the community, local NGOs, youths, and mid and senior-level staff of international NGOs and UN Agencies. Taught ethical perspectives, human rights, and governance issues to graduate-level students with different linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Moderated workshops, conferences, seminars, and lobby meetings with NGOs, media, policymakers, and duty-bearers.
