Professional Experience:
Policy Development:
• Responsible for managing the MEP's portfolio as Vice-President of the Development Committee, in particular with regards to policy strategy and drafting legislation - Reports, Opinions, weekly Amendments, Motions for Resolution and Parliamentary Questions
• Maintaining consistent policy research for the MEP's membership in the Foreign Affairs Committee, South-Asia Delegation, the Delegation to the Korean Peninsula and the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly
• Providing political and administrative support abroad, during the 4th UN Conference on the Least Developed Countries, May 2011, Istanbul and the EU-China Friendship Group High-Level Delegation to Beijing (October 2014).
Research:
• Writing Briefing Papers, Speeches and Working Documents in support of the MEP's policy agenda
• Drafting opinion pieces and press releases for major international publications.
Project management:
• Campaign Manager for Nirj Deva MEP, at the European Parliament Presidential Elections (finished runner up, tripling the party’s vote) - January 2012, and the UK European Elections (successfully re-elected) - May 2014
• Organising conferences and seminars from the planning stage to their completion on issues related to Development, Foreign Affairs, Health, and Human Rights
Office Management and Administrative support:
• Managed staff and temporary teams of seven to 10 people; liaised and maintained close partnerships with members of government and local government, other politicians and their staff, embassies, commissioners, relevant interest groups, the media, relevant NGOs.
