Professional Experience:
I am a recent graduate at Hunter College, where I majored in Political Science and Human Rights. My principal subjects were on international relations (focusing on political affairs), international laws, human rights in all its forms, and terrorism. I consider myself an activist, and I want to take part in supporting mission by pushing UN member States and governments to strengthen democracy by respecting the international laws, including human rights and humanitarian laws. I am a very outspoken and dedicated person, and I want to bring positive and lasting changes in others' lives.

As a member of Model UN for three years, my tasks were to conduct, research, collect, and analyze existing documents on human rights; these were used to compete against other Model
UN’s delegates. I also interviewed many victims, political actors, and UN working members to gather more evidence in order to examine the conditions and prepare briefings. I am very knowledgeable about UN's policies, procedures, and mandates regarding human rights issues. I believe the skills and experiences that I gained as an Investigator Intern at Legal Aid Society also bring me a good match for this position. As Investigator Intern, I assisted lawyers in preparing cases for the court, interviewed victims and witnesses, and examined crime scenes. I also performed background checks and served subpoenas.

Furthermore, I have developed personal attributes that would help me succeed. These include motivation, leadership, determination, self-awareness, and interpersonal skills. From an early age, I have had a strong interest in helping people. Having grown up in Mali, a country that, despite some improvements in the recent years, still grapples with serious human rights problems, I had the opportunity to reflect on such complex social issues as gender inequality, human rights violations, social and political injustices, and ethnic conflict. The current socio-political situation in Mali has made human rights a more personal quest for me; I have lived with victims of human rights abuses, and I would like to raise people's awareness of their basic human rights. I would like to take part in bringing justice to people. I have a strong foundation of how the UN conducts its peacekeeping work in political missions, as well as the duties of other UN agencies. I continuously look for opportunities to improve my skills. I am also fluent in French, both written and spoken.
