Director of the Academy of HRD
(April 2010 – Present)

The Academy of Human Resources Development (AHRD) is India’s premier institution, specializing in human resources development for all organizational forms.

Representative Accomplishments:

+ Strengthened the Academy of HRD’s doctoral Fellow Program by enhancing its rigour (increasing the number of modules from nine to eighteen), initiating research collaborations etc.

+ Invited to provide inputs for India's 12th Five Year Plan for the Higher Education Sector.

+ Ex-Officio Member of the National Executive Board of India’s National HRD Network.

+ Represented the Academy as a speaker at several conferences, conclaves and seminars.

+ Designed and delivered corporate training workshops, with excellent participant feedback.

+ Instituted a Performance Management System for the AHRD team.

+ Instituted in-service training for the AHRD team to foster continuous improvement in areas that impact the quality of the Academy’s work.

+ Introduced a Project Management approach to the work being done at the Academy, with clear accountabilities for tasks, timelines, etc. and a daily sharing of work priorities among the team.

+ Turned the Academy's finances around by focussing on ways to enhance revenues, and minimize costs, while building the brand of the Academy.

Head of Training, METRO Cash & Carry India (October 2005 – March 2010)

I headed the training function at METRO Cash & Carry India. A pioneer and global leader in the business to business Cash & Carry wholesale format, METRO offers hotels and restaurants, traders and institutions a wide assortment of food and non-food products.

Representative Accomplishments:

+ Organised the trainings prior to launch for all the Staff, Supervisors, Department Managers and Floor Managers at METRO Cash & Carry India’s Hyderabad, Mumbai and Kolkata Distribution Centres.

+ Designed and delivered training on Visioning/Goal Setting, Team Leadership, Communication Skills, Delivering Superior Service, and Interviewing Skills; and delivered Train-The-Trainer, Induction, Project Management, Time Management and other training sessions.

+ In 2008, METRO Cash & Carry India has conducted 559 training sessions for 7,824 participants during 5,835 training man days, with a 96.6% participation rate and 99% plus participant satisfaction rate, within the allocated training budget.

Manager, MD's Office, Seychelles Marketing Board (July 2003 – August 2005)

The Seychelles Marketing Board (SMB) was tasked with ensuring food security at stable prices for the 85,000 inhabitants and 115,000 visitors per annum to the Seychelles.

My responsibilities as Manager in the MD's Office included serving on a Task Force that revamped SMB retail and manufacturing operations (and facilitated their privatization), as well as developing and delivering corporate training modules for SMB Managers and Staff.
I have a Masters degree in Economics, and am currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program. My doctoral Guide is Dr. Yoginder K. Alagh, noted Indian economist, former Vice Chancellor of the Jawaharlal Nehru University, Rajya Sabha Member and Union Minister of the Government of India.
Affiliations and Achievements:
Founding member of the Indian Society for Corporate Social Responsibility, and the Society for Monitoring and Evaluating Development Projects. Life Member of the All India Management Association, National HRD Network, Academy of HRD, Indian Society for Training & Development, Palni Hills Conservation Council, Indian Economic Association, Indian Econometrics Association, Indian Society of Labour Economics and the Indian Science Congress Association.

Individual Member of Gateway House: Indian Council on Global Relations.

Served as Director for Youth Services at the Rotary Club of Kodaikanal in 1996 and 1997, Chairman of a District Project for Street Children with the Rotary Club of Cochin East in 1998, Director for International Services and Chairman - Rotary Foundation for 2009-'10 at Rotary Bangalore Downtown.

Chairman of the Board of Studies for Management and Finance at the Nirma University's Institute of Law.

Won a Man of the Seminar Award after delivering a speech at the Indian Ceramic Society in 1999.
