Professional Experience:
I have a broad base of professional experience in the nonprofit, corporate, and international development sectors totaling approximately three years. Through this experience I have developed knowledge and skills in monitoring and evaluation, research, and report writing. I have conducted desk research through in-depth literature reviews and phone interviews with a wide spectrum of professionals, including executives. I have also conducted fieldwork in West Africa including serving as a Field Associate for Trickle Up in Burkina Faso, where I toured the country meeting with heads of microfinance and other development organizations which I evaluated as prospective partners. I have also worked with Tostan in Senegal on their community empowerment and women’s health initiatives. Throughout these experiences I have produced reports in line with the needs and interests of the organization. I served on the board of the Community Empowerment Network for over four years, which allowed me to develop leadership skills and gain experience managing a small community development organization.

Since graduating with an MPhil in Development Studies from the University of Oxford in 2009 I have served as the full-time care provider for my two young children. I am now ready and eager to re-enter the workforce. I have kept current with the global health and development sector through attendance at the annual Global Washington conference and reading publications from the likes of the Center for Global Development, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation. Since October, 2013 I have volunteered over 200 hours as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) serving low-income children in my community. These children are entangled in high-conflict custody disputes which can involve allegations of substance abuse, child abuse, neglect, domestic violence, and other complicating factors. Serving as a CASA has allowed me to reengage the professional skills required for resuming my career. As a CASA I conduct investigations through interviews with children, family members, collaterals, and professionals such as teachers, therapists, and doctors. I then produce reports, including custody recommendations, which are submitted to court. I then testify at hearings and trials.

I am eager to contribute my knowledge and skills to the global health and development sectors. I seek a career where I am consistently presented with new challenges and opportunities to learn new skills and develop additional areas of expertise. I look forward to meeting with prospective employers.
