Professional Experience:
10 years progressively increased responsibility overseeing the management of international projects at the Johns Hopkins Center for Civil Society Studies with minimal oversight. I nurture and support collaborations with research colleagues, governments, and international organizations in more than 45 countries. I often speak at international conferences and seminars on the nonprofit and volunteer sector, carry out technical training of government statistics agencies and civil society leaders, and contribute to journal articles, books, and newspapers. I am a lead author of the International Labour Organization’s Manual on the Measurement of Volunteer Work, 2011, the first official guidance system for the development of data on the size, role, and character of volunteer work at the national level by government statistical agencies. I subsequently managed the campaign to encourage the implementation of this Manual by governments in Europe. I currently manage a USAID subgrant for work in the Kyrgyz Republic to foster effective government-civil society collaboration to deliver social services to its citizen, to improve governance, and strengthen the civil society sector. Prepare proposals, work plans, reports, and recruit project experts with minimal oversight.
