Professional Experience:
• 2015: independent consultant: Human rights, women’s and children’s rights, development of strategies to address violence against women and girls, conflict management and protection of civilians for peacekeepers, facilitation of trainings and workshops, research, coaching, support to capacity building.

• February 2011 to June 2014: Project Manager, United Nations Development Programme, Dhaka, Bangladesh

Capacity building of the National Human Rights Commission of Bangladesh in four areas:
Institutional development (capacity development, strategic planning, development of partnerships);
Monitoring and investigation (complaints management system, monitoring of human rights violations, investigative techniques);
Human rights education (awareness raising about human rights, gender-based violence, child rights, women’s rights, protection of vulnerable and marginalised groups, human rights trainings of law enforcement officers, journalists and in schools, design and implementation of a school-based campaign addressing violence against women and girls);
Policy and research (human rights advocacy, review of legislation, technical support within the framework of the Universal Periodic Review, reporting to treaty bodies, supervision of research).

Project management: results-based management, development of monitoring and evaluation tools, human resources management, Procurement.

Analysing and monitoring public policy, legislation, State practices and SDC experiences related to democracy, decentralisation, local governance and citizen participation; identifying, designing, implementing and evaluating democracy and decentralization projects; liaising with the democracy and decentralization focal points in the SDC field missions and other local or international implementing partners, particularly in Eastern Europe, Asia and Africa; providing relevant expertise, advice, and feedback on draft materials and project proposals; conducting field missions and collecting data and information on governance, democracy and decentralisation issues; participating and representing Switzerland in international fora related to governance, democracy and decentralisation; designing and providing training in my field of work.

Education:
I obtained a Master in Law at the University of Neuchâtel, Switzerland, before going on to do a Master in International Studies (MIS) with specialisation in International Law at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (GIIDS) in Geneva, Switzerland. My postgraduate studies in Conflict Resolution Skills were carried out at the Centre for Peace and Reconciliation Studies at Coventry University, United Kingdom.
