Professional Experience:
I have nearly 30 years of experience working for donor agencies, national and international organizations and the UN. My experiences range from working extensively in the grassroots to policy reforms.
I have developed education and training modules, programmes, departments and institutions. Striving to uphold human rights, equity and equality has been the center of my work, focusing on poverty reduction and gender empowerment initiatives for children, adolescents, youth, adults and especially disadvantaged groups.
I conceptualized and implemented the Life Oriented Education Program for the education of Grameen Bank's beneficiaries and supported Grameen Bank to establish Grameen Shikhkha as a sister organization.
I developed the Skills Development Programme as a new department for BRAC and set up the BRAC Institute for Skills Development. One of the projects which focused on strengthening entrepreneurial skills through apprenticeships received the Financial Times / International Finance Corporation Transformational Business Award.
I contributed to develop and steer Save the Children USA's Education Programme by co-leading the programme and promote child rights and girls' equal access to education. I was an active member of the National and Regional Child Labour Networks.
At the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) I contributed to develop SDC’s Cooperation Strategies, policies and guidelines, and played a lead role to shape and manage its education, skills development, employment & income and migration portfolios.
I served as the Focal Persons for Gender, Poverty Reduction, Organizational and Institutional Development. I also served as the Ombudsperson and Security Warden.
I designed / had approved / managed several national level projects which were co-financed by the government, bi-lateral and multilateral agencies and implemented by various government agencies, the private sector, national and international non-governmental organizations.
I led policy dialogue and reforms at the national level, providing leadership to the Local Consultative Group on Education and the Skills Development Working Group for several years.
During my previous job, I led UCEP Bangladesh as its first female and sixth Executive Director, managing an institution which provides education, training and job placement to about 35’000 poor and underprivileged children and youth annually through 32 General Schools, 10 technical schools, 17 outreach centers, two polytechnics and two training institutes. I ensured security, safeguard and protection and efficiently managed crises like the impact of COVID-19. Under my leadership, the institution expanded its outreach to include more diverse groups and futuristic courses were introduced.
I served as the Member Secretary of the Board of Governors, organized Board level meetings and ensured the execution of approved policies and decisions. I streamlined internal control mechanisms, strengthened fundraising, ensured the efficient management of plans and budgets, spearheaded the development and updating of necessary strategies and policies for organizational transformation and diversified partnerships. I strengthened the capacity, credibility, goodwill and leadership role of the institution.
