Professional Experience: |
For the last five months, I lived in Medellín, Colombia interning at the Gobernación de Antioquia and working with the Department of Productivity and Competitiveness. I’ve provided data and analysis on tourist opportunities and collaborated with the director about entrepreneurial potential in the municipality. As part of my internship, I got experience being in a fast-paced environment within the Colombian government. In addition, I researched aspects of civil society issues. The excitement of working in a challenging atmosphere focusing on diverse projects drives my desire to pursue a career in international development.
In my role as a former coordinator for my university, I understand the dynamics behind leading a group as well as progressing aspects of the organization’s purpose. My position involved living in a language learning community that fostered the German culture and language. The excitement of motivating fellow students about a different country and the rewarding feeling of helping students improve their skills in the German language inspires me to work in a multicultural setting.
As a business instructor at Berlitz Languages, Inc., I gained skills necessary to communicate with professionals on all levels. My focus in enhancing my students’ potential has allowed me to build strategic planning capabilities in order to sharpen their skills in business, meetings, and presentations. Not only did I guide my students, I served as a mentor collaborating with incoming, foreign teachers to develop themselves as an instructor as well as helping them get familiar with San Luis Potosí, México. In addition to being a business instructor, I have had experience in working on a start-up called Inspire Center, LLC. I learned the importance of maintaing a flexible and tenacious character when dealing with the obstacles that come along with entrepreneurial ventures.
