Sustainability Programs Manager with Peace Corps
Develop internal policies, implement strategies and monitor metrics published in Peace Corps’ Strategic Sustainability Performance Plan, greenhouse gas inventory and Climate Change Adaptation Plan.
Managed $10,000 FY2013 Sustainability program budget, which grew to over $150,000 in FY2015 after the reorganization and inclusion of Health, Wellness and sustainability programs’ contracts and interagency agreements.
Designed and administered the Agency’s first energy conservation program to incentivize overseas post to submit energy conservation strategies, monitor energy consumption and promote conservation. Using behavior change techniques, the program grew by 33% in 2014 with 47 of 75 overseas post participation.
Designed and administered the Agency’s first carsharing program to reduce vehicle miles traveled and removes unnecessary vehicles used for volunteer recruitment. The program is estimated to save the Agency $45,000 over the next 5 years.
Volunteer Recruitment and Selection with Peace Corps
Evaluated applicants based on standard Peace Corps assessment criteria in selecting or rejecting applicants.
Reviewed 136 applications, interviewed 148 candidates, and nominated 120 future Peace Corps Volunteers.
Prepared and presented information and educational programs, training sessions and informational meetings that promote Peace Corps and highlight recruitment needs.
Planned recruitment campaigns, managed travel budgets and presented at 80 special events in 2011.
Forestry Volunteer with Peace Corps Malawi
Implemented community projects in collaboration with Malawi forestry extension officers to encourage micro-enterprise development and an understanding of the economic incentives to sustainable land stewardship.
Created and facilitated training workshops for community extension officers to build the technical capacity of local beekeepers, agroforestry managers, and farmers.
