Professional Experience:
After building and managing a successful technical staffing business for 13 years, Ilaha Eli Omar now fully devotes herself to international development work.

During one of her four post-earthquake trips to Haiti, Ilaha successfully funded & ran a training program for women and girls on preventing sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and cholera. In Kenya, she launched a sustainable social enterprise empowering local women. While there, she also connected her fundraising to effectively build a sewage drainage system in Nairobi’s harshest slum, affecting 4,000 lives.

As an Afghan-American female entrepreneur, Ilaha is a champion for women's rights, supporting various women's self-sufficiency programs. As a co-mentor for Project Artemis, she works alongside Afghan women entrepreneurs and their respective American mentors to build women-owned businesses in Afghanistan. As a passion project, she regularly escorts Afghan children amputees for prosthetic treatment to the US via Children of War Foundation.

While Managing Director of Multipoint, Ilaha’s brought a wide range of business skills to global development projects besides averaging 132% revenue growth for eight solid years. Her areas of expertise include business development, strategic planning and global business forecasting, profitability improvement, budgeting, international employment and labor laws, risk mitigation and management, and more. Ilaha is known for her supportive egalitarian management style. She credits this style with optimizing employee performance, giving personnel a sense of pride in the company and creating a collaborative corporate culture. 

Ilaha’s Global M.B.A. & travel experience to over 40 countries, have positioned her to offer high-impact solutions, in lieu of “handout” solutions. She is a firm believer that the greatest impact lies in fostering sustainable results for the beneficiary while building a strong legacy of social good for the philanthropist. Ilaha currently resides in San Francisco, California.

The mission of the USAWC is to convene committed and capable stakeholders; identify and mobilize public and private sector resources; and encourage dynamic and collaborative partnerships in support of Afghan women and children in the areas of education, health, economic empowerment, and leadership development.
As a council member Eli Omar brings economic empowerment experience to amplify the needs for women on the ground, in Afghanistan. In addition, Eli's area of expertise is to help non-profits transition from donor-based dependency to self-sustainable entities.

Women Empowerment Mentor - Project Artemis
Eli works alongside Afghan women entrepreneurs and their respective American mentors to build and expand women-owned businesses in Afghanistan. Her work has focused on identifying and circumventing cultural barriers to women’s success. She finds solutions to social and economic challenges faced by Afghan women on a day to day basis.

International Outreach Director - Children of War Foundation
Create strategic partnerships to expand the global footprint & impact of COWF. In November 2016 & September 2017, Eli co-raised funds & traveled to Haiti, where COWF doctors operated on children with life-threatening deformities. In addition, Eli regularly facilitates the escort and medical care for Afghan child amputees to the US.
