Professional Experience:
A humanitarian and post-conflict health expert, I have worked almost exclusively for organizations with strong protection mandates combining (health) service delivery with humanitarian advocacy.

Having over 18 years experience working with NGOs, the UNHCR and the European Union provided me with expertise in all aspects of managing the project, strengthening public service delivery, and protection and gender-focused programming, with a special focus on refugees/IDPs and SGBV.

A large part of my professional experience has been linked with my work in Afghanistan (between 1999 and 2011). Starting in 1999 with gender-related protection mainstreaming at field level, later strengthening the Ministry of Health to successfully assume the steward role in health care delivery, and dealt more recently with civil-military issues related to humanitarian space and continued access to populations at risk.

In my advisory capacity for the European Union and United Nations I was responsible for daily dialogue with key stakeholders, formulated financing agreements, political briefings and technical advisory papers and participated actively in various national and international coordination forums. Extensive engagement with local communities and offering culturally appropriate responses to emerging needs were key to the advisory duties I carried out.
