Professional Experience:
I worked as a Federal Attorney in Brazil from September 2005 to August 2013. I took office after a national competitive examination and on September 2008 I was granted tenure in the office. Along the most part of my professional career as a Federal Attorney, I worked at the Unit of Regulatory, Economic and International Affairs of the Legal Office of the Ministry of Planning, Budget and Management, one of the most important Ministries in the federal administration. It plays a key role in almost all the main government administrative systems and in the formulation and implementation of the most important national policies. I have, therefore, a lot of experience in providing legal advice and administrative support to high-level decision-making authorities on a wide range of subjects, mostly related to the areas of public law, international law and development law, especially in the fields of public management, development policies and technical cooperation. As my wife is Hungarian, on August 2013 I took an unpaid leave from my job and moved to Budapest, where I am now trying to learn the beautiful, but quite difficult Hungarian language.
Education:
I took my Master’s in Law (2007) and my Bachelor’s in Law (2005) from the University of Brasilia, where I have been involved for a long time with a variety of research groups and research projects, mainly in the areas of constitutional law, human rights and democratic governance. I also carried out some research at the University of Genoa about the role of legal advice in the formulation and implementation of public policies (scholarship “Alla scoperta dell’Italia”, 2009/2010).
Affiliations and Achievements:
Over the last twenty years, Brazilian governments have managed to combine effective social policies with economic stability, a recipe that accounts for the impressive reduction of poverty and robust economic growth that the country has achieved. Brazil now plays a leading role in the international arena, with a lot of successful experiences in development policies to share. As an ex-civil servant, I am very proud of having given a small contribution to the legal design of the public policies that are so important to the social and economic development of my country. I have always been interested in working at an intergovernmental organization or international NGO and I think that my academic and professional experience in a developing country like Brazil would be particular useful to any organization in the development sector.
